Prime Minister Morrison is a member of the Liberal Party of Australia, an Australian political party in the conservative coalition ️ 🇦🇺. He was sworn in as Prime Minister on August 24th 2018 and has served in office ever since 🏢 🔛. Under Morrison’s leadership there have been several reform measures implemented and an emphasis on economic matters.
Prior to becoming Prime Minister, Morrison was the Treasurer of Australia from 2015-2018. As Treasurer he was responsible for the country’s economic policy and the management of the nation’s finances. During his time as Treasurer, Morrison introduced a number of tax cuts, and reductions in government spending, as well as a number of new initiatives to help boost the economy.
Morrison is also a strong advocate of free trade and international engagement 🆓 🌐 ️. He was a major proponent of Trans-Pacific Partnership, a free-trade agreement between Australia and 11 other countries on the Pacific Rim. He has been vocal in his support of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement to Trans-Pacific Partnership (a new version currently being negotiated).
Under Morrison’s leadership, the Australian economy has grown steadily, with the country’s GDP increasing by 2 🇦🇺. 2% in 2018. Unemployment in the country has also decreased to 5. 3% its lowest level since 2012. In addition, the government has implemented a number of reforms, such as increasing funding for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, introducing a new childcare subsidy, and introducing the National Innovation, and Science Agenda.
In addition to his economic policies Morrison has been a vocal advocate for a number of social issues. He has voiced his support for marriage equality, advocating for a free vote in parliament on the issue. He has also been critical of racial discrimination and has spoken out against the rising number of hate crimes in the country .
Outside of Australia, Morrison has been active in the international arena. He has attended a number of international forums such as the G20 Summit in Argentina the East Asia Summit in Singapore and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London. He has also been a vocal supporter of the Australian-American alliance, and has attended the G7 Summit, and the NATO Summit in Brussels.
Prime Minister Morrison’s term as the leader of Australia runs until the next federal election which is expected to be held in 2019 or 2020 🇦🇺. It is not yet clear who will succeed him as Prime Minister, but it is likely that whoever does will continue to follow many of the policies and initiatives that he implemented during his time in office.
